Writer badtemperedzombie.blogspot.com Barbara Bruederlin is a freelance writer and music nerd who left behind the world of neuroscience to focus on the arts community. Barbara writes web content for East Village Experience, is a regular contributor to BC Musician Magazine, a series writer with Cantos Music Foundation/National Music Centre, a music writer for Getdown.ca, and an oft-featured contributor to No Depression. An advocate for emerging musicians, artists and theatre companies, and a civic cheerleader, Barbara dabbles in concert promotion and convention planning.
Writer Jennifer Cockrall-King is a freelance features writer with a particular interest in food security, urban agriculture and food-related social justice issues. More broadly, Jennifer writes travel and lifestyle features, as well as profiles and opinion pieces. She splits her time between the interior of BC and Alberta. She is also the author of the book Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution (Prometheus Books, 2012).

Kristin EggenWriter/Editor I have been a freelance journalist, mainly feature magazine articles, as well as an editor and editor’s coach for 25+ years in Norway. I seek to re-establish my company Creative Crow as a writer, coach, course facilitator and editor here in Calgary. I have been teaching feature journalism, and facilitated courses for other editors, in how to use coaching skills in the art of leading other creators.
Writer/Editor Dawna Freeman is a freelance writer/editor who began her career in publishing as a reporter at the Edmonton Journal in the late 70s. She joined Saturday Night magazine in 1983 and returned to Edmonton in 2000, where she helped launch Cooking at Home magazine before joining Capital Health for eight years as writer/editor of its quarterly magazine. She now freelances for newspapers and magazines from her home in Spruce Grove, AB.
Sandra Markieta Witer/Photographer Sandra Markieta is a photo journalism student; she is currently studying at SAIT Polytechnic. With a few years of experience already under her belt, this young journalist has had her writing and photography published in various newspapers and magazines.
Production Artist Danny Miller has been Instructing at SAIT Polytechnic for the past 12 years in the Journalism Arts and Digital Graphic Communications Programs. With a background in print production, page layout and typesetting, Danny currently freelances as a production artist and page layout artist.
Photographer/Photo Editor/Publisher With over 20 years of experience, Keith offers contract and freelance services in photography, picture editing and photo assignment (ongoing or consultation), media relations logistics and planning, public/media event logistics and planning, publishing overview and consulting. Having worked in a variety of positions for daily newspapers, magazines and corporate clients, Keith understands the need to deliver what is needed and to get it in before deadline.
Writer/Editor/Photographer Jessica Patterson is a freelance reporter and photographer. She graduated from the University of King's College with a Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) in 2007. Since then, she has put her pen to good use and has written about all sorts of things, from crime and courts, to health and lifestyle, agriculture and rodeo, to arts, entertainment, business and politics. Jessica's education, experience and talent is evident in her work. She is also a competent copy editor and skilled photographer. She brings a fresh perspective, energy and enthusiasm to every assignment.
Writer/Editor/Photographer Spanning over two decades, Carl Patzel has been published in several magazines including Macleans, The Guardian, American Photo and airdrielife. Experience as a photographer/writer at daily newspapers has been a mainstay for Carl, who has garnished several newspaper awards while covering everything from features, oilsands, sports and anything else that comes his way. He currently provides freelance writing and photography in the Airdrie/Calgary area, most notably for airdrielife magazine and the Calgary Herald.
Writer/Editor Mifi Purvis is always asking “What’s that? How does it work? Who’s he? Why’d he do that?” and on and on. The constant questions embarrass her family but serve her well in her dual roles of writer and editor. She has edited a number of contract titles, including Leap, Tracks & Treads, Your Health, Grip, Food For Thought and go! SIAST Alumni. Mifi has written extensively for trade, industry, government, general interest and highly specialized publications from the local to the national level.

Nancy is experienced in project coordination, art direction, art layout and production as well as working with freelancers, budgets and timelines.
Audrey Shonn Writer/Editor/Photographer/Designer With more than 25 years of writing and photography experience in both corporate and advertising genres, Audrey Shonn is the writer/editor, photographer and designer of Landscape, published by greentree eco-friendly landscaping, a collection of creative ideas for landscapes and gardens, presented pictorially along with editorial containing landscaping tips, gardening how-tos, latest trends and new products.
Writer/Editor/Reporter/Photographer Andrea Tombrowski is a professional freelance writer, reporter, editor and photographer based in Calgary. In Canada, Andrea's work has appeared in Canadian Cowboy Country, Canadian Running, WestWord, New Tribe, More of Our Canada and a variety of other magazines. She is editorial assistant of AMPA member magazine, Homeschooler's Guide. In the U.S., Andrea has worked with Us Weekly, Country Weekly and American Cowboy. Andrea is a stickler for details and backs up her stories with solid research.

Writer/Journalism Student Greta Waples is a journalism student at SAIT and dreams of being a sports writer. She has a strong writers voice that she can't wait to express to the world. She is interested in feminsim and gender rights, as well as individual stories, and loves interviewing people and writing their stories.
