Junior Listings/Web Editor, Tanner Young Publishing


Tanner Young Publishing Group in Edmonton is seeking a Junior Listings/Web Editor to join our dynamic team and represent our premiere family of travel and tourism publications.

Description:

The Junior Listings/Web Editor will be instrumental in driving the efficiency and accuracy of our family of informational databases. This individual will be responsible for providing a variety of analytical and administrative functions within the company pertaining to those databases.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing for the website, including the events calendar, blogs, online listings and copy.

  • Uploading of web copy and imagery on the website

  • Fact checking and research for the website and its various departments.

  • Assist in the editing and proofing of editorial content

  • Maintenance of all databases, including entry of new events, accounts, and contacts.
  • Basic photo resizing and cropping for web content.

  • Attendance and coverage of events for website content as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who is personable and comfortable speaking to our clients. You will have a post-secondary education in writing, journalism, marketing electronic publishing or a related field.

Attention to detail is critical in this role, as we take great pride in making sure we do the work right, the first time.  Our readers demand that the information they are getting is timely, informative and correct!

You write, edit and proofread effectively and have great communication skills.  Your skill set includes fluency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Social Networking Sites.

Required skills include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge in MS Office: Word / Excel/ Power-Point/ Outlook, InDesign an asset

  • Skilled using SNS

  • A working knowledge of Photoshop would be an asset

  • Resourceful and takes initiative

  • Accurate and detail oriented

  • Committed to continuous improvement

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills

  • Able to be trusted to handle confidential company information

Web/Editorial Internship, Canine Review Magazine

Available immediately

Canine Review is Canada’s oldest independent dog magazine, providing the purebred dog fancier with coverage on people, their dogs, their breeding, showing and training programs for 34 years.

Description:

The web/editorial intern will develop a "classified ads" online database for the Canine Review website, including brief description of individual breeds. This project begins immediately, requires a minimum 160 hours, and should take about 5 – 8 weeks.  

This is a work experience internship, offered as part of the AMPA Flex Internship program. You will be paid a $600 honorarium by AMPA after the completion of 160 hours.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with databases (developing a MySQL /PHP solution, preferably working in MAMP on a Mac). They should have good writing skills, and some knowledge of dogs, although this is not a requirement.

Sales & Circulation/Traffic Coordinator, St. Joseph Media

St. Joseph Media is Canada's third largest magazine publisher with brands including award-winning titles such as Toronto Life, FASHION, Weddingbells, MARIAGE Québec, Where Canada magazines, Canadian Family and Quill & Quire.

Description:

The Sales & Circulation/Traffic Coordinator will coordinate distribution/circulation of all printed materials produced by St. Joseph Media (Calgary) as directed by the Publisher. The candidate will coordinate entry of all sales contracts into billing system and local sales reporting system while working closely with Sales, Accounting, and Publisher to ensure accuracy.

The candidate will also carry out general office management and reception duties including coordinating the maintenance all equipment, office supplies, couriers and mail, and general telephone administrative functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all distribution/circulation functions for various publications produced by St Joseph Media (Calgary) including Where Calgary Magazine, Our Alberta Magazine, Wedding Bells Magazine, and Fashion Magazine; ensuring audit requirements of Canadian Circulation Audit Bureau are satisfied
  • Coordinate the entry of all sales contracts into various databases including MSG Billing system, ACT, and local sales report excel program
  • Manage filing and safekeeping of all sales contracts
  • Maintaining Sales Reports and production sheets
  • General office administrative duties including the maintenance/service of all general office equipment including photocopier, fax machine, postage meter, and printers
  • Coordinate all courier deliveries and receipts
  • General Office Reception duties during business hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Maintain a high level of professional appearance and conduct while attending any community or business events, as a representative of St Joseph Media
  • Work effectively to all deadlines
  • Assist Publisher with all reports as required
  • Work closely with Account Managers to create and maintain Enhanced Listings on website, as well as assist in generating contracts and gathering of Ad Materials for all publications
  • Event Coordination on a project by project basis, including annual Where to Dine Awards, and Fashion Magazine Grand Opening Events
  • Designing and editing various newsletters
  • Sending web reports and tracking to clients
  • Selling of Advertising Contracts on a project by project basis

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Several years of office administrative experience in a related industry combined with a Post-secondary education, and a positive attitude
  • Outstanding negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Well developed organizational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to multitask
